Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Wards Off Terrorists’ Heavy Attacks in Demilitarized Zone in Hama, Idlib

The Damascus army fended off new attacks by terrorists against its positions and residential areas in the demilitarized zone in Northern Hama and Southeastern Idlib.

The terrorist groups in the weapons-free zone in Idlib targeted the town of Mahradeh in Northwestern Hama, its thermal power plant and civilian houses in the region with missile strikes on Monday.

The artillery units of the army pounded militants’ positions between Hama and Idlib, the origin of their attacks against the army-held positions, destroying several of their missile launchpads and killing a number of terrorists.

Meantime, the Syrian army continued its military advances in other parts of Syria over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in provinces across Syria.

Hama-Idlib

The Syrian army repelled new attacks by terrorists against its positions and residential areas in the demilitarized zone in Northern Hama and Southeastern Idlib.

A field source referred to the terrorists’ intensified offensives against the military points in Northwestern Hama, saying that it was the second time in the past few days that the region is attacked by the militants.

Meantime, the army troops launched missile and artillery strikes on terrorists’ strongholds in the towns of Murak, Kafr Nabudah, al-Zakah, al-Arbaeen, al-Latamineh, Latmin and Kafr Zita in Northern Hama, killing and wounding a number of militants and destroying their military equipment.

Also, in Southeastern Idlib, the Syrian army soldiers attacked the moves of Tahrir al-Sham Hayat (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) and other allied terrorists in Jarjanaz, Tamane’ah, al-Karati, Um Rajim and Abu Maki. The terrorists planned to infiltrate into the army positions.

Damascus

The Syrian army discovered a large number of weapons and military equipment during cleansing operations in liberated areas in Damascus province and Central and Southern Syria.

The army units found arms caches and hideouts of the terrorists in purging operations in the towns located in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, Dara’a and Quneitra in Southern Syria and the provinces of Homs and Hama in the Central parts of the country. They included a large number of weapons, military equipment and ammunition.

Field sources of the Syrian army also reported that several shoulder-launched anti-tank missiles, different types of cannons and mortars, West-made sniper guns, different models of guns and machineguns, wireless systems and night-vision goggles as well as a large volume of ammunition were found among the weapons.

Media reports revealed earlier this month that the US was providing direct military support for the ISIL in trade for Syria’s artifacts.

Aleppo

The Turkey-backed militants in Afrin in Western Aleppo are still busy with blackmailing civilians and infighting in the region, local sources reported on Monday.

The sources in Afrin said that the militants supported by Ankara kidnapped 9 members of a family, including women and children, in the town of Sheikh Hadid in Western Afrin, demanding $25,000 as ransom for their release.

Meantime, reports said that two groups of Faylaq al-Sham terrorists affiliated to the Turkish army engaged in heavy clashes in the village of Haj Khalil in Northwestern Afrin, leaving at least 5 militants injured.

Also, a number of militants attacked a checkpoint of the Ankara-backed Ferqat al-Hamzeh terrorist group in al-Mahmoudiyeh district in Afrin, killing and wounding several people of both sides.
