Major flood in northern Turkey kills five, 12 missing

A major flood in Turkey’s northern Black Sea region killed five people, including a soldier, while 12 others have gone missing, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday, August 23, as authorities carried out cleaning and rescue operations.

Footage from the town of Dereli, showed the aftermath of the floods with cars stuck in deep mud carried by flood waters as well as damaged buildings along the mud-covered streets.
