Man dies after self-immolation in Senegal

A Senegalese man has died after setting himself ablaze in front of the presidential palace in the capital city of Dakar.

According to reports by local media, the incident occurred on Monday when the 32-year-old man, identified as Cheikh Mbaye, doused himself in flammable liquid and then set himself on fire.

He was transferred to Dakar’s main hospital and died early Tuesday from third-degree burns.

Local sources further said that his burial was set to take place later Tuesday in the capital.
