Mehmanparast: U.S. has no place in the region

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Monday that in view of the awaking of nations and the spread of Islamism, the United States has no place in the region any longer.
The remarks by Mehmanparast came after zionist US President Barack Obama announced that Pentagon will withdraw all U.S. forces from Iraq by the end of the year.

The pullout of U.S. military forces is the result of the resistance put up by the Iraqi people, government, and clerics, Mehmanparast said.

If the U.S. had been capable of maintaining its military presence in several parts of the world, U.S. officials would have not made such a decision, he stated.

On the U.S. claim that Iran had plotted to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to Washington, he said that the U.S. is seeking to create tension among regional countries to set the stage for its increased military presence in the region, deflect attention from its domestic problems, and contain the Islamic awaking, which is rolling across the Middle East and North Africa region.
