Miles of Smiles 23 aid convoy reaches Gaza Strip

Miles Of Smile 23 aid convoy has succeeded on Thursday to cross through the Rafah Border Terminal between Gaza and Egypt, carrying aid supplies.

The aid convoy is the first since Egypt’s President Mohammad Morsi was removed from power.

The convoy included international activists from different countries including Algeria, Libya, Jordan, Britain, Sweden and Malaysia.

Undersecretary of the Foreign Affairs Ministry Ghazi Hamad, the director of foreign relations Mahmoud Madhoun, and Vice President of the State Commission for the reception of delegations Alaa Bata have received the convoy at the border crossing.

Madhoun praised the convoy’s efforts in breaking the siege on Gaza, stressing its importance especially after the Egyptian recent restrictions.

Dr. Issam Mustafa, the general coordinator of Miles of Smiles convoy, stated that nothing will prevent the convoy’s arrival to Gaza, vowing to continue their aid supplies to Gaza.

Dr.Issam expressed thanks to the Egyptian authorities for allowing the convoy’s to enter into Gaza Strip, expressing hopes that such coordination, with the Egyptian authorities, would continue with the aim of serving the humanitarian objectives of “Miles of Smiles” aid campaign, and to alleviate the suffering of Gaza inhabitants under the difficult circumstances that they are experiencing actually.
