Iranian senior cleric has said Muslim unity foils plots of the enemies and warned the Arab Spring revolutionaries against efforts to hijack their popular movements.

Grand Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani, Iranian distinguished clerics met with a group of Egyptian thinkers and political activists to stress Muslim unity and warning the visiting Egyptians to protect the Revolution, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He referred to the enthusiasm of the Western countries to hijack the popular movements in the region and said, “Survival of the Islamic countries is dependent on unity between the people and the authorities.”

He hailed the revolution and resistance of the Egyptians to have Islamic origins and demanded the political and religious delegate to base their new constitution on the holy Qur’an and true Islam rather than ideologies of previous regimes.

He referred to his meetings with Al-Azhar University figures and called the academy as the canon of Islam in Egypt.

This Iranian top figure expressed hope that Egyptian people and other regional nations achieve their objectives through unity.
