Tiger Forces seize the Najarah-Ayishah axis in east Aleppo

Syrian Arab Army’s elite special operations division known as the “Tiger Forces” were deadlocked in a heated battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) for last 8 days, as they both attempted to impose full control over the strategic village of Najarah in the Aleppo Governorate’s eastern countryside.
Initially, the Tiger Forces – in close coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions) – seized Najarah from the ISIS militants after advancing along the northern countryside of the Kuweires Military Airport last week.
However, unwilling to concede the southern rim of the Al-Bab Plateau, ISIS launched a counter-offensive to recapture Najarah from the Tiger Forces and their allies. For the last 8 days, the Tiger Forces and ISIS have duked it out for control of this strategic village, resulting in a high death toll for both sides and the destruction of the remaining buildings inside of Najarah’s only urban neighborhood.
On Thursday afternoon, the Tiger Forces and their allies finally secured the entire village, making their way as far north as the Najarah-Ayishah axis. The Tiger Forces confiscated ISIS’ weapons and ammunition hubs inside of Najarah, while also destroying the terrorist group’s network of tunnels that were used to counter the pro-government forces.
