Saudi Arabia confirmed that a senior army commander has been killed in Yemeni attack on the kingdom’s Southern border regions.
The commander of the Saudi eighteenth army brigade, Major General Abdul Rahman bin Saad al-Shahrani, was critically injured in an attack by Yemeni forces while inspecting military deployments along the kingdom’s Southern border regions, Saudi Arabian armed forces announced in a statement released by the official Saudi Press Agency on Sunday.

Sharani died after being transferred to hospital for treatment, press tv reported.

Earlier in the day, Yemeni troops took control of two Saudi army bases in the border region of Jizan.

According to local media reports, Yemeni troops also destroyed a tank, seized three others, and obliterated several other military vehicles in the same region.

Another retaliatory rocket attack was launched on Jizan, leaving one Saudi solider dead.

Yemeni forces launch such attacks in response to Saudi Arabia’s merciless airstrikes, carried out since March 26.

In the Saudi regime’s latest attack, jets carried out raids on the Northwestern Hajjah province killing at least two civilians on Sunday.

Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 152 days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 5,518 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.

Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.

Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
