Mottaki meets G15 attendees

Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has held talks with Belarusian, Nigerian and Indian diplomats on the sidelines of the G15 summit in Tehran.

Mottaki on Monday discussed ways to expand Tehran-Minsk relations in his meeting with the First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko.

In a meeting with his Nigerian counterpart Aliyu Idi Hong, Mottaki offered his condolences on the passing of president Umaru Yar’Adua to the people and government of Nigeria.

In a separate meeting with his Indian counterpart Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna, Mottaki discussed the expansion of energy and trade ties between Tehran and New Delhi.

“India can play an important role as an influential regional country,” a Foreign Ministry statement quoted Mottaki as saying.

Krishna congratulated Iran on successfully hosting the G15 Summit, adding that the world has changed and many of the established institutions should be reconsidered because they are not able to pursue the goals they were created to achieve.
