Hezbollah rockets extend their reach beyond Tel Aviv, hitting two military bases for the first time

As the conflict between Israel and Lebanon endures, the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon has intensified its operations, launching attacks on Israeli military positions. Reports indicate that Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) concentrations on the outskirts of the Lebanese town of Khiam have been targeted on at least ten occasions.

The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, Hezbollah, announced on Thursday that it had carried out 29 operations targeting Israeli military positions. These actions were aimed at thwarting continued Israeli efforts to push into towns and villages in southern Lebanon.

In recent operations, Hezbollah executed a series of rocket and drone attacks targeting concentrations of Israeli forces stationed in southern Lebanese towns and various military bases within contested territories. In a notable engagement, the Resistance successfully intercepted an Israeli Hermes 900 drone, deploying a surface-to-air missile in the western sector’s airspace, compelling the unmanned aerial vehicle to withdraw from Lebanese skies.

The Islamic Resistance launched a coordinated operation at 6:00 a.m., deploying a series of one-way drones in an aerial assault on the Haifa Naval Base. This facility, situated approximately 35 kilometers from the Lebanese-Palestinian border, is home to missile boats and submarines and lies to the north of the city of Haifa, which is under occupation.

The organization reported that at 7:30 a.m., its militants launched a barrage of rockets aimed at a gathering of Israeli forces located east of the town of Khiam.

Approximately an hour subsequent to initial reports, Hezbollah operatives executed two distinct rocket offensives. These attacks aimed at concentrations of Israeli military personnel situated to the north of the Kfar Yuval settlement and to the east of the town of Khiam in southern Lebanon.

At midday, Resistance fighters launched an unprecedented attack on the Hatzor Airbase, a key military installation housing reconnaissance and combat squadrons, located approximately 150 kilometers from the Lebanese-Palestinian border, east of the occupied city of Isdud.

Hezbollah has announced that it has, for the first time, launched an attack on the Israeli Early Warning Post, a critical intelligence hub for the Golan Division 210, located on Mount Hermon within the contested Syrian Golan Heights.

The Islamic Resistance has reaffirmed through its statements that its operations are conducted in support of the resilient Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip. The group emphasizes solidarity with what it describes as the honorable and courageous Resistance, while also stating that these actions are aimed at defending Lebanon and its citizens.

In a series of disclosed operations today, officials confirmed that two took place on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Islamic Resistance operatives conducted an aerial assault at approximately 4:00 and 4:25 PM. In a recent development, the Islamic Resistance’s Operations Room has released an updated statement following Wednesday’s events, detailing a confrontation between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli forces in the town of Tayr Harfa, which resulted in the destruction of an Israeli armored vehicle.

The Operations Room has reported that militants observed an Israeli unit infiltrating a residence situated on the western outskirts of Tayr Harfa.

According to the statement, the assailants launched an attack on the residence where the unit had sought refuge, utilizing medium-range machine guns and unspecified weaponry, which resulted in partial structural collapse on the involved forces.

Subsequently, a separate Israeli unit, bolstered by an armored vehicle, sought to move forward to evacuate the wounded. However, an official statement indicated that the armored vehicle came under attack by unspecified weaponry and was subsequently destroyed.

In accordance with Statement No. 17, released at 7:00 p.m. on November 20, Islamic Resistance operatives have recommenced their operation in the designated location, employing machine guns for an extensive sweep.

The Israeli military has confirmed four fatalities and multiple injuries following an incident, according to an official statement released hours later. However, Israeli media outlets have reported that six soldiers lost their lives in what is being described as an ambush.

The Israeli military has confirmed the deaths of several personnel, including an officer and a soldier from the 13th Battalion (Golani), a soldier from the elite Maglan unit, and an archaeologist who was accompanying the unit. The incident occurred during a mission to “survey the area” under the supervision of the brigade commander, according to a statement from the Operations Room.

“Israel” has reportedly been unsuccessful in neutralizing Hezbollah’s short-range rocket arsenal, which persistently targets the northern regions of the occupied Palestinian territories. This ongoing threat undermines Israeli efforts to stabilize the area and facilitate settlers’ return to their communities, according to US officials cited by The New York Times.

The report indicates that continuous rocket attacks undermine “Israel’s” efforts to secure its northern territory through a military incursion into Lebanon.

The report underscores that the persistent threat has intensified pressure on the Israeli government to contemplate a ceasefire or at least a temporary pause in its military operations in Lebanon.

Furthermore, according to US officials referenced in the report, Hezbollah has not yet fully mobilized an estimated force of 20,000 to 40,000 fighters. This situation has sparked concerns about the possibility that the group might be preparing for an extended war of attrition, especially in the region of South Lebanon.

Amid recent developments, a report by The New York Times reveals that U.S. intelligence agencies consider a ceasefire agreement to be the most feasible strategy for facilitating the return of Israeli settlers to their communities near the Lebanese border.
