West-backed Arab leaders bound to fall

An Iranian lawmaker has slammed certain Arab countries for their dependence on Western powers, saying Arab leaders are bound to fall.

“Leaders of Arab countries are dependent on Western powers which will bring them no fate but collapse,” Mohammad Karim Shahrzad told Fars news agency on Thursday ahead of the upcoming direct talks between the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Israel in Washington.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and acting Palestinian Authority (PA) Chief Mahmoud Abbas are scheduled to resume direct talks in Washington on Thursday.

Abbas, who agreed to sit at the negotiating table with Israel without preconditions, is facing mounting criticism from Palestinians who accuse the PA of bending to “US and Israeli pressure.”

Shahrzad referred to a rift between governments and nations of Arab countries as among the main problems in recent years, saying, “The interference of Western countries, the US and the Zionist regime (Israel) in the fate of Arab countries is the reason behind such a rift.”

“Leaders of Arab countries should learn from the positions of their nations and know that their fall is nearing,” he added.

The Iranian lawmaker slammed Arab countries for refusing to support the oppressed Palestinian people, saying, “This move shows Arab countries lack a sustainable policy.”

Shahrzad further noted that Iranians will take part in International Quds Day rallies with “strength and coherence” to support the Palestinian people and added that Western propaganda will have no impact on the Iranian nation’s will.

Initiated by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic in Iran, Imam Khomeini, the International Quds Day is observed on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.

On the Quds Day, Muslims are urged to hold rallies in support of Palestinian resistance in face of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands.
