Mottaki underlines continued resistance against Israel

On the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the abduction of Imam Mousa al-Sadr, Haj Khalil Hamdan, Deputy of Amal Movement, Lebanese Youth and Sports Minister Ali Abdullah and a number of Lebanese officials on Sunday met with IRI Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.

In the meeting Mottaki pointed to the victory of Lebanese resistance during the 33-day war against the Zionist regime and said,” Today Lebanese Army and the Resistance Movement seek dignity and sovereignty of Lebanon.”

IRI Foreign Minister also referred to the resistance in Gaza and Lebanon and said,” The two events showed that the Zionist regime understands nothing except resistance, so some who follow the new US approach in the Middle East would earn nothing.”

About ‘International Quds Day’, Mottaki said,” Iranian people beside other Muslims around the world will declare resistance against the Zionist regime as the only way for freedom of the Holy Quds.”

IRI Foreign Minister also hoped for progress, dignity and sovereignty of both Iran and Lebanon.

Meanwhile Mottaki pointed to the President Ahmadinejad’s visit to Lebanon in the near future and hoped the meeting would help expand trade transactions between Iran and Lebanon in all fields.

The Foreign Minister also underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran is pursuing Imam Mousa al-Sadr’s case decisively.

In August 1978, al-Sadr and two companions Sheikh Muhammad Yaacoub and journalist Abbas Badreddine departed for Libya to meet with government officials and garner support for regional movement against Israel. The three were never heard from again.

Libya has consistently denied responsibility, claiming that Imam Sadr and his companions left Libya for Italy. Some others have reported that he remains secretly in jail in Libya.
