More than 100 individuals from the Alawite community abducted over a two-day period along Syria’s coastal regions

According to local reports, over 100 individuals have been reportedly kidnapped within a 48-hour period across Syria’s coastal regions. Similar abductions have also been reported in the provinces of Hama and Homs.

According to information provided by Lebanese news outlet Al-Mayadeen, there has been a reported increase in the abduction of Alawite individuals in towns and villages situated along the Syrian Mediterranean coastline. The rate of these incidents has escalated to approximately 20 kidnappings daily in each governorate.

In recent weeks, escalating turmoil in Syria has led to an increase in the targeting of minority groups in the coastal regions. This surge in attacks has been notably observed in the provinces of Latakia and Tartus, as well as in certain areas of Homs and Hama.

The attacks on Alawite and Christian communities in these regions appear to be more than mere isolated incidents, suggesting a broader strategy to alter the demographic and political fabric of the country.
