Hezbollah’s return to the southern Aleppo front has provided the embattled Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies with a much needed boost in terms of manpower and military capabilities against the terrorist Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham as they have already captured 6 villages in a matter of 72 hours.

On Tuesday morning, Hezbollah – in coordination with the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division, the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, and Harakat Al-Nujaba – launched a powerful assault on the towns of Al-Zorba and Barqoum, killing several enemy combatants from Jabhat Al-Nusra, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and Jaysh Al-Islam en route to their advance towards the strategic Aleppo-Damascus Highway (M-5 Highway).

According to a military source embedded with the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division, Hezbollah and the Syrian Armed Forces have entered both Al-Zorba and Barqoum; however, he dismissed reports of their capture, stating that firefights were still ongoing at the eastern axes of both towns.

Should the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies seize the strategic town of Al-Zorba, they will have effectively cutoff the Islamists primary supply route from the Idlib Governorate to the provincial capital of the Aleppo Governorate.

Based on several reports from the Islamist rebels, over 50 of their militants have been killed by the pro-government forces in a span of 48 hours.
