NATO-made equipment found in Mayadeen – Syrian Army general

NATO-produced armaments were allegedly discovered in the newly recaptured Syrian town of Mayadeen, according to Syrian Army Brigadier General Suheil al-Hassan.

Al-Hassan gave a statement from the area on Monday: “we have a lot of foreign equipment here. Among all the equipment that you can see here, the majority was produced in Western countries,” he said.

“The cannon that we have just passed, it was made in Britain, and it is in NATO’s service,” the general asserted, adding that “even means of communication and means of command and control are also produced in Western countries. Even cars stuffed with explosives, also Western-made, of the Cobra-type.”

Mayadeen, which lies 44 kilometres (27 miles) southeast of the city of Deir ez-Zor, was liberated from the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) earlier this month.
