Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Preparing for Major Operation against ISIL in Deir Ezzur

The Damascus Army dispatched more government forces to the Eastern part of Deir Ezzur over the past 24 hours as it is preparing for massive military operations to hunt down the remaining ISIL terrorists.

“The army has moved towards Eastern Deir Ezzur to kick off a major operation against the ISIL,” the Arabic-language service of Russia Today (RT) reported.

Meantime, the Syrian army continued its military advances in other parts of Syria over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in provinces across Syria.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army sent more troops and equipment to Eastern Deir Ezzur, preparing for a large-scale operation to hunt the remaining pockets of ISIL terrorists.

The Arabic-language website of RT reported that the army has moved towards Eastern Deir Ezzur to kick off a major operation against ISIL.

It further said that the army has dispatched a part of its forces in Eastern Idlib and Northern Hama to Eastern Deir Ezzur.

The last bases of the ISIL are in the town of Hajin and its surrounding villages on the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River, the Arabic RT said.

Hama

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) foiled terrorists’ attack on their positions in al-Ghaab Plain of Northwestern Hama last night.

According to a military report from the government stronghold of Sqaylabiyeh, the jihadist rebels of the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP) attempted to infiltrate the Syrian Arab Army’s positions west of the town of al-Ziyara, the AMN reported.

The army was able to kill several members of the Turkestan Islamic Party before they finally withdrew to the Eastern half of the Al-Ghaab Plain.

Northeastern Syria

A US-led coalition convoy of 150 trucks of troops and equipment has been forwarded to regions controlled by the Washington-backed militias in Northeastern Syria after President Donald Trump called for troops pullout from Syria, a Turkish state-owned daily reported on Sunday.

Yeni Safak claimed that 150 trucks, carrying arms and ammunition, have been sent by the US army to Kurdistan’s People Protection Units (PKK), a military branch of the Democratic Unity Party in Northeastern Syria.

The US army’s move came after the US presidents’ decision to pullout forces from Syria, the paper said, adding that the convoy crossed Iraqi border into the border towns of Qamishlit and Drik 24 hours after Trump called for the troops pullout.

The daily went on to say that a sum of 500 US’ trucks of arms and ammunitions have been forwarded to bases of the PKK and other People’s Protection Units during the past week.

Northern Syria

The Turkish Army forwarded another military convoy to its Southern border with Northern Syria on Sunday, preparing for an imminent major operation on the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River against the Kurdish militias.

The army dispatched a new convoy of armored vehicles along with a large number of gendarme and police forces from different parts of the country to the border town of Elbili in Kilis province.

In the meantime, Anadolu reported that the new convoy will reinvigorate the Turkish troops, deployed at borders with Syria.
