Iran scientist assassins will be brought to justice

Iran says those behind the assassination of an Iranian nuclear physics scientist in Tehran will be brought to justice.

In a press conference with his Omani counterpart Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah in Tehran, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said that those responsible for the terrorist attack would be tracked down and brought to justice.

Iranian nuclear physics scientist Dr. Massoud Ali-Mohammadi was killed in a remote-controlled bomb attack in the Iranian capital on Tuesday.

“Despite certain statements and announcements made by different groups outside the country, Iran will precisely look into the issue to identify those behind the attack and will certainly inform the people of Iran and the international community,” he said.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry had earlier said that Iran had found traces of US and Israeli involvement in the assassination of Massoud Ali-Mohammadi.

Mottaki also ruled out the possibility of an Israeli military action against Iran, calling it “part of a US and Israeli propaganda campaign.”

“Although the Israeli regime has been a source of terror, genocide, and aggression since its illegal fabrication, it would not dare to attack Iran,” he added.

Concerning the political situation in Pakistan and Afghanistan, Mottaki said that only a regional approach could help restore peace and stability in the two countries, rather than foreign military presence.

“We believe that a regional approach is the best option to make up for the failed approaches adopted in Pakistan and Afghanistan so far.”

Despite the presence of more than 113,000 US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, the situation in the war-torn country has been deteriorating, leading to a an unprecedented surge in violence.
