Gaza Ministry boosts security along borders with Egypt
The Palestinian Interior Ministry in Gaza reiterated on Thursday its commitment to security and stability with Egypt. The ministry’s spokesman Iyad al-Bazm said in a Facebook statement that a delegation from the Interior Ministry carried out an inspection tour along Gaza’s southern borders. Islamic Jihad leader Khaled al-Batesh and Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri also joined the tour.
According to al-Bazm, such measures come as part of a security plan to control the borders with Egypt. Recent meetings between Hamas and Egyptian officials culminated in an agreement to boost security along the Egypt-Gaza borders. Over recent days, a series of measures was carried out by the national security forces in the blockaded Gaza Strip as part of intents to tighten security grip along the border area.
