Commander: US, Israeli Hostilities to Syria Backfire

The US and the Zionist regime of Israel are, in fact, the target of their own hostile policies towards Syria, a senior Iranian military commander cautioned on Sunday.
Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces for Cultural Affairs and Defense Publicity Brigadier General Massoud Jazzayeri told reporters on Sunday that the US is now “in a weak stance” and Israel’s status is also “fragile”.

He warned about the outcomes of any hostile act against Syria, and noted, “The outcomes of any hostility towards Syria will be redirected towards the US, the Zionist regime and Europe.”

Iranian commanders have always said any western military intervention in Syria will be defeated.

Jazzayeri had in similar remarks said earlier that the pro-Assad “resistance” would ensure that aggressors do not survive the conflict.

“A conflict in Syria will engulf the region and its main victims will be the people of Syria themselves,” Jazzayeri told the Persian-language Mashregh news website.

“The Zionist regime and the interests of the enemies of Syria are all within range of the resistance fire.”

“The defeat of the enemy at this stage will be a big event and, God willing, we will witness that,” Jazzayeri added.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

In October, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but Israel, the US and its Arab allies are seeking hard to bring the country into chaos through any possible means. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots in the hope of stirring unrests in Syria once again.

The US and its western and regional allies have long sought to topple Bashar al-Assad and his ruling system. Media reports said that the Syrian rebels and terrorist groups have received significantly more and better weapons in recent weeks, a crime paid for by the Persian Gulf Arab states and coordinated by the United States.
