Syrian Officer: Mesraba Capture Kick Starts Eastern Ghouta Liberation Domino

“The army’s control over Mesraba and Beit Sawa is like a domino which will lead to the collapse of terrorist-held bases in Ghouta,” the officer was quoted by the Arabic-language Elam al-Harbi news website as saying on Wednesday.

He added that the operation fronts in Ghouta will be separated into two Northern and Southern fronts, saying that many terrorists will be forced to surrender as a result.

“The Syrian army’s encircling of the terrorists in different parts of Ghouta will be completed soon,” the officer said, adding that the al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) terrorists stationed in Harasta will soon be cut off from Faylaq al-Rahman and Jeish al-Islam militants which are present in Douma, Saqaba and Hamouriyeh.

In a relevant development earlier today, the Syrian army continued to capture more territories as the battle has entered a sensitive stage after militants were expelled from almost 40% of the Eastern Ghouta region in Damascus countryside.

The army men drove terrorists out of al-Ash’ari farms West of the town of Hawsh al-Ash’ari in their night operation.

Field sources ensured that the town of Hawsh al-Ash’ari itself will be soon freed.

The army troops also seized the farmland area near the militant-held towns of Mesraba and Beit Sawa.

The sources further said that recent advances have enabled the army to liberate three strategic regions in Eastern Ghouta.

The sources added that the Syrian Army will most likely start a new phase of its military operation on Masraba, Beit Sawa and Hawsh Al-Ashari in order to exert maximum tactical pressure on militant groups.
