“Pursuing Takfirism through civilization, culture”

Speaking at an academic seminar at Qom’s Centre for the Jurisprudence of the Pure Imams, Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad-Taqi Sobhani, the president of the Research Institute for the Theology of the Ahlul-Bayt, discussed the cultural and civilizational consequences of the Takfiri phenomenon saying: “We should place greater emphasis on pursuing the issue of Takfirism through the perspectives of theology and jurisprudence in the cultural arena.”

“Through this manner, those who follow a non-religious perspective will accompany us in our efforts to confront this evil phenomenon,” he said.

Hujjat al-Islam Sobhani said that the world today is so embroiled in conflict with Takfiri terrorists that it is essential to create  a broad and unified front against this phenomenon and this issue can help familiarize us with the Takfiri phenomenon and in practice, it can mobilize us against the Takfiris.

The teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom said that in order to pursue the issue of Takfirism we must pursue it from the perspective of civilization and culture and added that through the media, we can show that the Takfiri phenomenon is not a religious movement.

“Explaining this issue in academic circles is essential because we have not been able to involve intellectual-minded people with the issue of Takfirism,” Hujjat al-Islam Sobhani said.

The president of the Research Institute for the Theology of the Ahlul-Bayt said that academic opposition to the Takfiri phenomenon through the use of reason and dissent should be studied in research centres and the media should pursue the issue from this angle.
