Deir Ezzur: Army Launches Counterattack to Win Back Strategic Region after Repelling ISIL Offensive

The army soldiers engaged in clashes with a group of terrorists who intended to occupy the Syrian troops’ new positions in the Western parts of al-Ta’min brigade in Southern Deir Ezzur, and repulsed their offensive after inflicting casualties on the militants.

The army units then launched a counterattack on ISIL bases near al-Ta’min brigade region and won control of Abu Hassan hill after heavy clashes with the terrorists.

The army forces also targeted a group of ISIL terrorists who were fleeing the battleground in the Southwestern parts of al-Ta’min brigade with tank fire, killing 11 militants and wounding several others.

On Wednesday, a number of ISIL terrorists were killed and several more were wounded in the Syrian Army’s artillery and missile attacks in the Southern outskirts of Deir Ezzur city.

The artillery and missile units opened heavy fire at ISIL’s positions and movements in al-Maqaber (cemetery) region, the neighborhood of al-Ma’amel and regiment 137 base region, killing 21 terrorists and wounding several more.

Several military vehicles of the militants were also destroyed in the attack.
