Pakistan Backs Iran’s Regional Peace Initiatives

A senior member of Pakistan’s National Assembly has emphasized Islamabad’s appreciation for Iran’s role in fostering regional stability. The official affirmed Pakistan’s support for Iran’s initiatives aimed at promoting peace in the Middle East and South Asia.

In an exclusive interview with a correspondent in Islamabad on Sunday, Sardar Fateh Ullah Khan Miankhel, the chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense of the National Assembly of Pakistan, expressed that the forthcoming visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi to Pakistan represents a pivotal diplomatic initiative aimed at promoting peace in the region.

“Recent tensions in South Asia have once more exacerbated the strained relations between Pakistan and India, he noted. Meanwhile, Iran, a close neighbor and ally, has offered its assistance in addressing these issues.”

A prominent Pakistani political figure highlighted that Araqchi’s visit offers a valuable chance for Pakistan’s leadership to engage with Iranian representatives concerning the recent advancements in bilateral ties, the circumstances in Afghanistan and the Middle East, and crucially, the ongoing tensions with India.

In a statement, he emphasized the commitment to peaceful coexistence, expressing a warm reception towards Iranian initiatives aimed at resolving disputes. He voiced strong support for Tehran’s endeavors to foster stability and peace, stretching from the Middle East to South Asia.

He emphasized the significance of Iran and Pakistan’s roles within the Islamic world, advocating for unity and a collaborative approach to tackle emerging challenges and promote peace and stability in the region.

He emphasized the need for officials from both nations to engage in consultations aimed at bolstering economic and energy collaboration, alongside the development of border infrastructure. This includes making progress on the pivotal Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline initiative.
