Syria militants planning attack on West: UK spy chief

The head of British spy agency, MI5, says militants from Syria are planning to launch massive attacks on targets in the Western countries.

Syrian militants are planning “mass casualty attacks” on Western targets, UK’s Security Service chief, Andrew Parker, said late on Thursday.

“We know, for example, that a group of core al-Qaeda terrorists in Syria is planning mass casualty attacks against the West,” Parker added, referring particularly to a group of terrorists known as Khorasan.

He further noted that the number of “crude but potentially deadly plots” including “attempts to cause large scale loss of life, often by attacking transport systems or iconic targets” has increased in the Western countries.

He made the remarks a day after al-Qaeda-affiliated gunmen stormed the Paris headquarters of the satirical weekly, Charlie Hebdo, gunning down a dozen people, including eight journalists, two police officers, a maintenance worker and a visitor.

The attack in Paris was a “terrible reminder of the intentions of those who wish us harm,” the MI5 chief added.

This is while Britain, France and a number of their Western and Arab allies have been supporting Takfiri extremist terrorists in the Middle East.

The Takfiri terrorist groups, with members from several Western countries, control swathes of land in Syria and Iraq, and have been carrying out horrific acts of violence such as public decapitations and crucifixions against all communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.
