Pakistani Military Reports Killing of 54 Militants Attempting Afghan Border Infiltration

In Islamabad, Pakistani security forces successfully neutralized 54 militants attempting to cross the border from Afghanistan, as reported by the army on Sunday.

In an official statement, the Pakistani military announced that intelligence assessments identified the militants as “khwarij,” a term that the Pakistani government employs to describe members of the Pakistani Taliban.

The army has stated, without directly assigning blame, that the eliminated militants were dispatched by their “foreign masters” with intentions to execute terrorist attacks within Pakistan.

According to the report, security forces have successfully neutralized at least 54 assailants in recent clashes. A significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was seized during the operation.

Pakistan has consistently alleged that India, its neighbor to the east, supports militant organizations to orchestrate attacks within Pakistani territory.

Tensions between the two nuclear-armed South Asian nations have intensified after a fatal attack on tourists in Pahalgam, southern Kashmir, which India has attributed to Pakistan.

The military cited a recent session of the National Security Committee, which claimed that diverting Pakistan’s security forces from their primary focus on counter-terrorism efforts appears to be India’s strategic objective.

In a significant development, security forces have confirmed that they have eliminated the highest number of khwarij in a single operation during their ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, according to an official statement.
