Hamas announces the release of three Israeli captives as part of the ceasefire

The Palestinian resistance organization, Hamas, has announced the identities of three Israeli women detainees who are scheduled for release under a prisoner exchange arrangement, which forms part of the recent ceasefire agreement concerning Gaza.

Abu Obeida, the spokesperson for Hamas’s military faction, the Qassam Brigades, announced the release of three individuals as part of a prisoner exchange agreement. The individuals named are Romi Gonen, aged 24, Emily Damari, aged 28, and Doron Shtanbar Khair, aged 31.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously stated that the implementation of the ceasefire would be contingent upon Hamas providing the names of the captives. Meanwhile, the Gaza-based Palestinian organization attributed the postponement to “technical” issues.

According to Gaza’s Civil Defense, Israeli airstrikes on Sunday morning resulted in the deaths of 13 individuals and left over 30 others injured. The strikes occurred during a nearly three-hour delay in the implementation of a ceasefire agreement.

According to reports, Israel has been involved in military operations in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths of at least 46,899 Palestinians, primarily women and children. Additionally, approximately 110,725 individuals have sustained injuries. Thousands remain unaccounted for and are feared to be trapped beneath debris.
