Hamas Movement said that a Palestinian delegation is to arrive in Cairo on Saturday to initiate consultations with Egyptian officials on a truce in Gaza.
Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesman, said that no Palestinian official from Gaza would join the delegation due to the prevailing security conditions in the Strip.
In an earlier statement, Abu Zuhri refused the UN and the US blame for Hamas after accusing it of breaching the humanitarian 72-hour ceasefire.
He said in a press release on Friday night that charging Hamas with violating the ceasefire was “illogical and biased in favor of occupation”.
The clashes on Friday morning occurred inside the Gaza Strip and erupted as a result of the Israeli army’s raid, he said, adding that resistance elements were acting in self-defense.
The UN and the US are focusing on the Israeli soldier, who went missing while attacking civilians, and forgot about the scores of Palestinian civilians who were killed in the Israeli violent artillery bombardment of the neighborhoods to the east of Rafah in retaliation to his disappearance, Abu Zuhri said.
