A month-long Israeli aerial and ground offensive on the Gaza strip has left people across the blockaded Palestinian territory in desperate need of basic necessities of life, Press TV reports.

Since Israel withdrew its troops from the besieged territory, the world has begun to realize the scale of the damage done to the already impoverished enclave.

A Press TV correspondent said in a report on Wednesday that the scope of devastation and misery across Gaza is massive.

Many of the injured are left in need of treatment and residents have no homes to return to.

The Tel Aviv regime has also attacked hospitals in its large-scale military offensive and pounded the medical centers that are in desperate need of medicine and equipment.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has strongly denounced the Israeli forces for leaving a massive trail of destruction in civilian sites across the Gaza Strip.

ICRC President Peter Maurer says the destruction left behind by the Tel Aviv regime’s forces is unprecedented.

The Israeli offensive in Gaza is also estimated to have cost the Palestinian territory at least USD 4.6 billion in damage. The Palestinian Economy Ministry sources say the figure includes only direct damage to the Gaza economy.

The development come as a 72-hour ceasefire in Gaza is in its second day. The ceasefire is a break from a four-week conflict that has left at least 1,875 Palestinians dead, including 430 children.

Senior Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, says conflict with Israel has so far brought victory to Palestinian resistance groups.

The UN Human Rights Council has recently passed a resolution, calling for an independent probe into Israel’s war crimes in Gaza.
