Ceasefire agreement terms for Gaza unveiled by mediators

Various media outlets have unveiled the specifics of a ceasefire agreement reached between the Israeli government and the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, aimed at concluding over 15 months of ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.**

The recently brokered agreement, facilitated through the diplomatic efforts of Qatar, the United States, and Egypt, is set to take effect this Sunday, January 19. This accord focuses on the initial phase, spanning 42 days, during which a prisoner exchange will take place.

The prisoner exchange is set to commence on the first day of the ceasefire and will persist until the release of all Israeli captives, both living and deceased, is secured. In return, the Israeli authorities will release a mutually agreed-upon number of Palestinian detainees.

According to a Palestinian insider associated with the negotiation team, a primary focus of the agreement involves establishing a permanent ceasefire, facilitating the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, paving the way for its reconstruction, and ensuring the opening of crossings to enable the free movement of people and goods.

The Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement is structured in three distinct phases:

**Phase 1: Duration of 42 Days**

Hamas has released 33 hostages, comprising both female civilians and soldiers, as well as children and civilians over the age of 50.

Israel has announced its decision to release 30 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for each civilian hostage and 50 prisoners for each female soldier being held.

In a recent development, Israeli forces have reportedly withdrawn from densely populated regions within the Gaza Strip, repositioning to the periphery of the area. This maneuver coincides with a cessation of hostilities in the region.

The deal also seeks to include the complete withdrawal of Israeli military forces from the Gaza Strip, although specific terms are yet to be finalized.

STAGE 3:

– The remains of Israeli hostages have been returned in exchange for the bodies of Palestinian militants.

A reconstruction plan for Gaza has been set in motion.
