Pezeshkian and Putin commend the ‘strategic’ relationship between Iran and Russia
In a statement underscoring the significance of bilateral ties, Russian President Vladimir Putin conveyed to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian that fostering relations with Iran remains a key priority for Moscow. Putin noted the successful advancement of these diplomatic relations, highlighting the strategic importance of collaboration between the two nations.

On Friday, during informal talks at a forum in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, the two presidents held discussions. During the meeting, President Vladimir Putin remarked that Moscow and Tehran share closely aligned views on current international issues.
The Russian leader stated that Moscow and Tehran maintain active cooperation on the international stage and frequently align in their evaluations of global events.
According to Russian media reports, the official remarked that this year has seen a notable rise in trade volume between the two countries, indicating a positive trend.
Pezeshkian described Iran’s ties with Russia as “genuine and strategic,” reflecting a strong bilateral alliance.
He stated that the economic and cultural ties between the two entities are experiencing continuous and significant growth.
Efforts to enhance and expedite the cooperative relationship between Iran and Russia must be intensified, in alignment with the directives of the nations’ supreme leaders, highlighting the imperative to fortify these bilateral ties.
According to Pezeshkian, Iran and Russia possess substantial complementary capabilities that can be leveraged to mutually benefit and support one another.
He stated that their global standings are more aligned with each other than with those of other nations.
The Iranian President expressed optimism that the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between Iran and Russia will soon be finalized, emphasizing the importance of accelerating the signing of the document.

The summit for emerging economies is set to commence on October 22, with leaders from 24 nations anticipated to participate. Among the attendees will be China’s President Xi Jinping and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
President Pezeshkian addressed regional developments, highlighting concerns over alleged Israeli actions affecting Palestinian and Lebanese populations.
He stated that the Zionist regime disregards international legal and humanitarian standards, adding that the regional situation remains critical.
Pezeshkian noted that European and American nations are opposed to the maintenance of peaceful relations among countries in the region.
The conference in Ashgabat is witnessing the participation of regional leaders, including Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, alongside the leaders from Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
During the opening of the forum, President Vladimir Putin announced that the participating countries are seeking to establish a “new world order” as a counterbalance to Western influence.
