Pezeshkian stated that in the event of an attack on the nation’s nuclear facilities, the country is prepared to construct a thousand new ones

President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that in the event of any hostile actions targeting Iran's nuclear facilities, the nation's youth are prepared to undertake reconstruction efforts without delay.

In a speech delivered in Bushehr, the site of one of Iran’s major nuclear facilities, Pezeshkian made a defiant statement on Thursday, asserting that while adversaries may target the country’s nuclear sites, they cannot undermine the intellectual resilience of the nation’s youth.

In a statement directed at adversaries, he asserted that if 100 nuclear facilities were to be targeted, Iran would retaliate by constructing a thousand more, underscoring the nation’s resilience.

On Monday, during an interview with Fox News, former US President Donald Trump suggested the potential for an Israeli strike on Iran. However, he emphasized his preference for pursuing a diplomatic agreement with the Iranian government.

On Thursday, Iran’s Air Force Chief, General Hamid Vahedi, emphasized the nation’s defensive military stance while issuing a stern warning. “To all nations, whether allies or adversaries, we declare that our doctrine remains defensive. However, we will retaliate with strength against any assault by our enemies,” he stated.

Pezeshkian conducted an official visit to the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in southern Iran, where he sanctioned operational activities for Units 2 and 3. This facility stands as the Islamic Republic’s only nuclear power plant.

During his visit to the inaugural unit of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, he inspected multiple sections, such as the control room and the turbine. Plant managers and experts provided him with a comprehensive briefing on the facility’s operational specifics, electricity generation, and the transmission of power to the national grid.

During his visit to the construction sites of Units 2 and 3 at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, he directed the installation of the initial critical equipment component within Unit 2’s reactor building, prioritizing the enhancement of safety measures. Additionally, he sanctioned the commencement of excavations for pump house buildings for both units.

The initial phase of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, functioning at a capacity of 1,015 megawatts, has produced 72 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity over 11 years since it began operations. This achievement has circumvented the utilization of 114 million barrels of crude oil, resulting in cost savings exceeding $8 billion in fossil fuels.

In addition to recouping an investment amounting to four times the construction cost of the facility, the plant’s operation has played a pivotal role in training specialized personnel and boosting the generation of clean and sustainable energy.

Units 2 and 3 of the power plant are each designed with a nominal production capacity of 1,057 megawatts.

Mohammad Eslami, the chief of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, has reported that the facility has achieved notable progress in recent years, resulting in the production of approximately 7.4 billion kilowatts of nuclear power.
