Philippine Army continues operation to eliminate ISIS from Marawi

Government forces conducted patrols and clearance operations in devastated areas of Marawi, Saturday, several weeks after the government declared the liberation of the city.

Philippine armed forces reportedly recovered 30 firearms thought to belong to the Maute Group over the weekend in Marawi’s Lake Lanao.

The militants are believed to have thrown their weapons in the lake before retreating.

On October 17, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte announced that Marawi had been liberated from the Maute militants.
