Iran, Lebanon urge continued support for Islamic resistance

Following the victory of the Palestinian resistance movement over Israeli regime in the recent war on the Gaza Strip, Iran and Lebanon have urged continued support for the Islamic resistance in Lebanon and Palestine.

According to Press TV, Iran’s Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said after a meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri in Beirut on Friday: “The victory of Gaza highlights the necessity to continue resistance and Jihad against the Zionist regime. With their patience and perseverance, the people of Gaza showed that the only way to confront the Zionist regime is Jihad and resistance.”
He slammed the stance of certain Muslim countries on Palestine, adding, “Political gesture will not resolve the Palestinian people’s problem. The Palestinian people would like Muslim countries to provide them with real help.”
Larijani emphasized that support for such movements in the region is a matter of honor for Iran as they are resisting against Israeli regime’s expansionist nature.
The top Iranian parliamentarian expressed optimism about political developments in the region and said Tehran would stand by Palestine and Lebanon.
Berri, for his part, expressed hope that the Palestinian resistance movement’s victory against Israeli regime would be a turning point for regional countries to support resistance.
He lauded Iran’s support for the Lebanese government and people.
The Iranian Majlis speaker, who is on a three-leg regional tour, met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus earlier on Friday.
Larijani said the Islamic Republic would continue its support for the Syrian government and nation.
Earlier in the day, Larijani emphasized that Iran strongly opposes adventurism in Syria, urging a political solution to the unrest in the Arab country.
