Leading prisoners deny reports on truce between hunger strikers and jailers

The leadership of the Palestinian hunger strikers in Israeli jails denied it was offered a truce for 10 years by the Israeli prison authority in exchange for meeting the prisoners’ demands.

According to a Palestinian human rights group, member of the higher hunger strike committee and Hamas prisoner Jamal Abu Al-Hour denied that the Israeli jailers made a proposition to the leaders of the hunger strikers to fulfill their demands for 10 years, provided that they end all protest steps and strikes.

Another member of the hunger strike committee Alaa Abu Jazar also said the prisoners were surprised to hear media reports claiming that such truce took place.
Abu Jazar added that the Israeli prison authority, on the contrary, does not respect its previous agreement it had signed last May with the hunger strikers after their mass strike in most of the Israeli prisons.

He noted that the last meeting that took place between the leaders of the hunger strikers and Israeli prison officials was three months ago.
