Iraqi Kurdistan’s Pishmarga Forces, in a series of operations on Wednesday, pushed backed terrorists of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), and recaptured full control over Al-Kabeer neighborhood in Iraq’s Northwestern city of Mosul.
Informed sources told the Arabic-language Al-Masalah news that Pishmarga forces targeted the ISIL terrorists’ strongholds in Mosul, killing and wounding over 56 anti-government fighters in Al-Kabeer neighborhood.

Meantime, another source told the new agency on the condition of anonymity that four ISIL ringleaders were killed in the Pishmarga operations and 50 others were seriously injured.

The crisis in Iraq escalated after the ISIL militants took control of Mosul in a lightning advance on June 10, which was followed by the fall of Tikrit, located 140 kilometers (87 miles) Northwest of the capital, Baghdad.

Soldiers of the Iraqi army have been engaged in heavy fighting with the militants on different fronts and have so far been able to push them back in several areas.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has said Saudi Arabia and Qatar are responsible for the security crisis and growing terrorism in his country, denouncing the Al Saud regime as a major supporter of global terrorism
