Israeli soldiers attack peaceful demo

Israeli forces have fired tear gas at a group of nonviolent Palestinian demonstrators protesting Israel’s illegal apartheid wall in the occupied West Bank.

Palestinian and foreign activists held balloons in the colors of their national flag and the traditional Arab keffiyeh during their weekly peaceful demonstration.

The anti-Israeli demonstration in the villages of Bilin and Nilin, near Ramallah in the West Bank, turned violent after Israeli forces fired tear gas and stun grenades to disperse the crowd.

There were no reports of any injures, but according to locals, several Palestinians were detained.

The demonstrators were also marking the 21st anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.

Most Palestinians view the West Bank apartheid wall as another Israeli land grab.

In the West Bank village of Bilin, a Palestinian protestor held up a stun grenade fired by Israeli soldiers toward the demonstrators.

Palestinians in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) and the West Bank hold peaceful demonstrations every Friday to protest against Israel’s illegal settlement expansion and the apartheid wall. Hundreds of Palestinians and foreign activists regularly attended the demonstrations.

The Zionist entity has occupied East al-Quds during the Six-Day War in 1967 and later annexed it — a move not recognized by the international community. The construction of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory is illegal under international law.
