Post-mortem examination condemns Israel for Abu Ein’s death

An autopsy conducted overnight Wednesday found the Israeli occupation guilty of the murder of the Palestinian minister Ziyad Abu Ein, who breathed his last shortly after being shoved and grabbed by the neck by an Israeli occupation officer at a West Bank protest on Wednesday morning.

PA minister of civil affairs, Hussein al-Sheikh, told the official Palestine radio station that the autopsy, which was carried out overnight and attended by Palestinian, Jordanian and Israeli medical officials, showed Abu Ein died because of beating by the Israeli occupation soldiers and inhaling large amounts of tear gas in addition to the delay in his transfer to the hospital by the Israeli forces.

He also said that the Israeli forensic expert, who was present at the postmortem, agreed to the findings of the autopsy which he dubbed “professional”.

Abu Ein was killed on Wednesday shortly after an Israeli occupation policeman shoved and grabbed him by the throat during a protest in the West Bank.

Abu Ein, 55, was among scores of Palestinian and foreign activists who were confronted at an Israeli checkpoint while heading to a demonstration against Jewish settlements in the occupied territory, al-Jazeera TV reported.

An Israeli occupation patrol fired tear gas and sound grenades at the group and a scuffle ensued in which an Israeli policeman pushed Abu Ein and grabbed his neck firmly with one hand.

Footage of the incident did not show Abu Ein responding with any violence, a consortium of regional media sources agreed.
