Powerful earthquake hits Aegean coasts of Turkey and Greece

A powerful earthquake was reported in the eastern Mediterranean on Friday, causing significant damage to several areas, including the densely populated Turkish city of Izmir.

The number of injured in the Izmir earthquake, which struck the Aegean Sea, rose to 419, as search and rescue operations continued to recover the rest of the victims.

The victims of the earthquake, which also caused a partial tsunami, had risen to 45 people.

The 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck 17 kilometers from the coast of the city of Safri Hisar in the state of Izmir, and at a depth of 16.54 kilometers below the surface of the earth.

Neighboring Greece also suffered significant damage as a result of the earthquake, as the country’s civil defense teams help the victims affected by this natural disaster.
