The Iranian president says that tensions have been imposed on Syria, hoping the Syrians could soon see plots ended and calm back to the country.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told visiting Syrian prime minister Wael Nader al-Halqi on Tuesday that the Syrian people would definitely leave behind the current tough times successfully, adding nothing but an end to clashes, a national consensus and holding elections could help Syria, the Website of the Iranian president reported.

He hoped the tenuous situation some are trying to impose on Syria could end soon thanks to a spirit of hope, eagerness and cooperation among all people in the Middle East country.

The president then stressed the need for developing ties between Tehran and Damascus in different areas and said this could benefit the two nations as well as regional countries. He said that Iran and Syria could tap into their economic potential for the sake of their own people.

The Syrian premier, for his part, said that the enemies of Syria have targeted the country’s economic infrastructures after they failed in many other areas, adding that colonial powers are struggling to tighten the screws on the Syrian people economically but that the nation will stand up to them with what it has.

He praised Iran’s achievements in different areas as a source of pride for all independent and freedom-seeking nations, saying that the Syrian people are happy with the growing advances of Iran and take pride in them.
