Protector of the Oppressed People Islamic Republic of Iran Eyes Major Steps in Air Defense

Iran says it has gained noticeable achievements in the field of air defense industry and that the Islamic Republic aims to reach a point to counter all modern aircrafts.

“It has been a long time since we started working to produce a new generation aircraft and we have taken very successful steps in this field,” Deputy Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) Brigadier General Mohammad Alavi said on Tuesday, IRNA reported.

He went on to say that the IRIAF is trying to develop capabilities in all aspects of producing aircraft and equipment for electronic warfare and ammunition such as air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles, to enable the country to deal with all new generation aircrafts in the world.

Alavi made the remarks on the first day of the last phase of aerial maneuvers dubbed “Fadaeeyan Harim Velayat 3” (Defenders of Velayat Sanctuaries 3) in the northwest Iranian city of Tabriz.

He said Iran’s air defense industry will focus its efforts to promote upon Sa’eqeh, a joint product of the Iranian Air Force and the Defense Ministry, and insisted that the country’s air force needs to upgrade its equipment based on the threats.

Alavi said Sa’eqeh enjoys the necessary devices to be employed in electronic warfare, adding that the airplane will be tested in the ongoing drills in terms of the ammunition tonnage it can support.

The commander hailed technical achievements by military research centers in the production of engines for fighter aircraft as well as the wings and body for warplanes, saying Iran has reached the required capability in the production of warplane missiles and ammunitions.

Alavi noted how the Iranian air force has managed to handle renovation of used warplanes despite more than three decades of Western sanctions spearheaded by the United States.
