Puppet UN expresses profound(!) concern regarding infants succumbing to hypothermia in Gaza

On Monday, the United Nations voiced serious alarm regarding the death of a one-month-old infant in Gaza attributed to hypothermia. This tragic incident marks the eighth fatality of its kind within a span of fewer than three weeks.

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has expressed significant concern following reports from the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip indicating that a one-month-old infant has succumbed to hypothermia. This tragedy marks the eighth infant fatality attributed to the cold within a span of less than three weeks, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric announced during a news briefing, Anadolu Agency reports.

Dujarric underscored that these fatalities could be avoided if humanitarian assistance reached families in Gaza. He emphasized that Israel’s continued hostilities in the region have intensified the humanitarian crisis, leading to daily reports of civilian casualties and widespread displacement.

Referencing the recent Israeli artillery attack on a United Nations school being used as a shelter, he emphasized the critical importance of safeguarding civilians and civilian infrastructure, including humanitarian personnel, convoys, and resources, in strict adherence to international humanitarian law.

He also highlighted the ongoing restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities that hinder aid delivery to the besieged regions of North Gaza. He stated, “Over the past three days—Saturday, Sunday, and today—three United Nations efforts to reach these areas have been blocked.”

UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric reported that over the weekend, a total of 37 humanitarian missions were scheduled in the Gaza Strip under the coordination of the United Nations. Of those, 12 missions successfully proceeded, while 15 were outright rejected. Additionally, nine faced significant obstacles, and one was called off due to logistical and operational challenges.

He additionally reported ongoing incidents of armed looting targeting humanitarian aid convoys in southern and central Gaza. He noted that, as of yesterday, eight fuel trucks were seized, though two have since been successfully recovered.

The speaker reiterated the necessity for Israel to expedite and expand the entry of humanitarian aid, fuel, and commercial goods into and across Gaza through various access points, in order to halt the ongoing looting of relief supplies. He emphasized the importance of reestablishing public order to ensure the security and effectiveness of aid distribution efforts.

When questioned about whether the United Nations had received an explanation from Israel regarding its recent assault on a World Food Program (WFP) convoy near the Wadi Gaza checkpoint on Sunday, UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated, “I find it inexplicable that a clearly marked WFP convoy, whose movements were fully coordinated with Israeli security forces, was targeted.”

The ongoing conflict in Israel has resulted in a humanitarian crisis within Gaza, where nearly 2 million of its 2.3 million residents have been displaced. These individuals are now seeking refuge in tents or shelters, facing severe shortages of essential supplies, including food, water, and medical aid.

The Israeli military has persisted in its extensive military campaign in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of nearly 46,000 individuals, a majority of whom are women and children, since October 7, 2023. This ongoing conflict endures despite a United Nations Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cessation of hostilities.
