Qatar PM Hamad bin Jassem Al-Thani Removed from Post

Qatar’s new Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani removed Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassem Al-Thani from his office, in the first decision issued after receiving power from his father on Tuesday.

The decision announced earlier Wednesday was part of the cabinet reshuffling process by the Emir.

Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Thani, Qatar’s State Minister for Internal Affairs is tipped to succeed Hamad bin Jassem Al-Thani as Prime Minister, AFP quoted sources as saying.

The new government is expected to be announced when Tamim Al-Thani makes his first address to the nation later Wednesday marking his official enthronement as new ruler of the tiny, oil-rich Gulf state.
