Heavy fighting breaks out in east Damascus as Syrian Army units attempt to advance at Qaboun

The Syrian Army (SA) launched another powerful attack in the eastern suburbs of Damascus today, targeting Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s defenses inside of Al-Qaboun.

Led by the elite 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division and 106th Brigade of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the western sector of Al-Qaboun, where they were confronted by a large force of jihadist rebels.

Intense clashes are still ongoing at this moment in Al-Qaboun, with the Syrian Arab Army on the offensive, a military source told Al-Masdar News on Friday.

The Al-Qaboun suburb has long been under the control of the jihadist rebels and continues to be used by the latter to transport supplies to besieged militants in the East Ghouta region of east Damascus.
