Qatar urges talks on the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire
In a recent meeting with Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani underscored the urgency of initiating the second phase of negotiations without delay, as stipulated in the Gaza ceasefire accord.

Qatar’s Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, has called for the prompt initiation of discussions regarding the second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza.
During a press conference in Doha, Qatari official Al Thani underscored the urgency of commencing negotiations for the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire, following discussions with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
He announced, “The second phase of negotiations is set to commence tomorrow, and discussions with both parties have already been initiated in preparation for this.”
The Prime Minister reiterated Qatar’s steadfast opposition to the displacement of Palestinians and affirmed the country’s willingness to welcome released Palestinian prisoners should they opt to relocate there.
He stressed the imperative for all parties to fully adhere to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and to swiftly advance to the second phase. Expressing a hopeful outlook for positive outcomes, he stated that any compromises resulting in delays to these negotiations should be strictly avoided.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has declared that any attempt to displace Palestinians from Gaza contravenes international law and has called upon the international community to stand against such actions.
In response to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal, Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan reiterated Turkiye’s firm stance against the relocation of Palestinians from Gaza to other nations, citing that such actions would contravene international legal standards.
Ahmad Abdel Hadi, the Hamas representative in Lebanon, stated to Al Mayadeen on Saturday that discussions concerning the second phase of the prisoner exchange and the Gaza ceasefire are expected to be challenging. However, he noted that the prevailing conditions are favorable to their position.
Abdel Hadi stated that the Israeli officers and soldiers currently detained by the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza are being used as leverage in negotiations.
A senior Hamas official has asserted that the results of the second phase of negotiations are expected to be advantageous for the Resistance. The official highlighted that the prevailing atmosphere has become more positive, thereby fortifying the position of the Resistance.
According to observations of the current situation, it appears that the ceasefire agreement is likely to persist despite indications that Israeli authorities may impose heightened demands and introduce additional stipulations.
In related developments, Abdel Hadi affirmed that “there is no sign of the agreement falling apart,” highlighting that former US President Donald Trump had endorsed the accord as an integral component of the strategic vision set forth by his administration.
Israeli Channel 12 has reported that mediators facilitating the prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Resistance are considering options to accelerate the process.
