Probe into Maamoura car bomb case has not been ended yet. However, security sources revealed to al-Manar new facts over the issue.

The most significant fact is that the so-called “Islamic State in Iraq and Levant” ISIL is behind the car bomb, according to confessions made by Syrian suspect, Hassan al-Maarrrawi.

Maarrawi said that he had bought the car at the request of ISIL, adding that he knew the car would be booby-trapped in a bid to target Hezbollah in Beirut’s Southern suburb, security sources said.

He also confessed that he had partners from Lebanon and Syria and of other nationalities.

Maarrawi’s role was just to buy the car, while other tasks were ordered to other people.

The car, laden with explosive vehicles was moved from Ersal to Maamoura, security sources added, noting that new facts will be revealed next week.

The sources also said that it has been confirmed that Takfiris are behind the car bomb, adding that the aim was to cause large number of deaths.

Earlier last month, a car suspected to be loaded with explosives was found in Dahiyeh’s Maamoura region. The army intelligence then announced that the car was composed of 50 kilograms of highly explosive materials.
