Rafsanjani Stresses Importance of Supreme Leader’s Fatwa against N. Weapons

A0701907The Fatwa (religious decree) issued by the Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei against the production and use of the nuclear weapons is more than a simple political pledge, Head of Iran’s Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said, adding that Iran just wants to restore its nuclear rights.

“Leader’s Fatwa is much higher than a normal political pledge and promise, which means any move against it would be an unforgivable sin,” Rafsanjani said in a meeting with new Italian Envoy to Tehran Luca Jiansanti.

He added that despite their strong intelligence sources and satellites, the westerners have failed to present a proof to substantiate their claims about Iran’s alleged diversion in its peaceful nuclear energy program.

Rafsanjani, a two-time Iranian president in the 1990s, further stated that Iran wants to restore its inalienable rights to access the civilian nuclear technology, and called on the world powers to treat Iran justly in their negotiations with Tehran officials.

The Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei has on many occasions said the Islamic Republic considers the pursuit and possession of nuclear weapons “a grave sin” from every logical, religious and theoretical standpoint.

On April 17, 2010 The Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei issued a fatwa declaring that the production, stockpiling, and use of nuclear weapons are all haram (religiously prohibited).

“Iran is not after a nuclear bomb. Why would Iran want a nuclear bomb? Moreover, when an atomic bomb is detonated, it does not just kill enemies. Rather, it kills innocent people as well, and this goes against Islamic beliefs and the principles of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

An atomic bomb does not discriminate between good and bad people, and it is not something that the Islamic Republic would use. The Islamic Republic is relying on something that is not affected by bombs, foreign invasions and other such things. Such things only strengthen what the Islamic republic is relying on. The Islamic republic is relying on the people,” a part of the fatwa said.

Analysts believe that the fatwa of the Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei can well serve as a beacon of light for Washington in order to find its way out of darkness and ignorance.
