Rage Increases as Anti-Islam Campaign Intensifies

Around a week after the so-called “Innocence of Muslims” film offending Islam and the Prophet Mohammad was circulated, outrageous protests have been organized against the US-made film and the US administration for allowing the showing of such film.

Angry protestors staged a protest in front of French embassy in Tehran on Thursday setting fire to US and Zionist regime flags to protest the offensive film against the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH).

The angry protestors called on Iranian ambassadors to leave bullying countries and come back home. They carried placards reading ˈDown with the US,ˈ ˈDown with Zionists,ˈ ˈUS, Israel, prime suspect of this crime,ˈ ˈInsulting to the Messenger means defaming 1.5 billion Muslims,ˈ ˈDown with the Three Evils, US, France, Britain.ˈ

In France, Parisian police banned a demonstration later this week in protest against the US-made anti-Islam film. A security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said on Thursday that the police have turned down a request to hold the demonstration in front of the Paris Grand Mosque, AFP reported.

The source noted that if the police ban is ignored, organizers of a possible demonstration will face six months in jail and a fine of 700 euros ($900).

French satirical weekly magazine ‘Charlie Hebdo’, which last year published offensive caricature to Islam and Prophet Mohammad, repeated the provocative move also yesterday.

The French Muslim Council (CFCM), the main Islamic body in France, on Wednesday accused the magazine of firing up anti-Muslim sentiment at the sensitive time.

Council of Muftis in Lebanon held an urgent meeting Thursday called for by Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic Mohammad Rashid Qabbani to condemn the movie. The Muftis decided to call for a Christian-Muslim spiritual summit to tackle the issue.

Also, following the Lebanese national dialogue session the dialogue poles said the anti-Islam U.S. film is aimed at igniting strife and supported the government in its call for issuing international regulations that criminalize the mocking of religions.

Hundreds of thousands of Yemenis held a massive protest in the southern city of Taez to voice their outrage at the movie.

Clashes have erupted outside the US embassy in the capital Islamabad between Pakistani students and police as the students were protesting the anti-Islam film on Thursday.

This comes as the government has declared September 21, a national holiday in honor of Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him) and called for peaceful protests against the insulting film. Religious parties have called on Pakistanis to shut down their shops and businesses on Friday in a general strike against the movie.

In Afghanistan, thousands have poured onto streets in Bamyan province to protest the film.

Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh have blocked access to the video-sharing website YouTube after deadly protests linked to the movie trailer.
