The Israeli authorities confirmed on Sunday the discovery of the body of Rabbi Zvi Kogan, who had been reported missing since last Thursday in the United Arab Emirates. In a joint statement, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Foreign Ministry announced, “UAE intelligence and security services have located the body of Zvi Kogan, who had been unaccounted for since Thursday.”

The statement characterized Kogan’s killing as a “heinous anti-Semitic terrorist act,” emphasizing that the interim authority is committed to exerting all efforts “to ensure justice is served against those responsible for his murder.”

The Emirati authorities have yet to issue a statement regarding the Israeli announcement concerning the death of the rabbi.

Zvi Kogan, a notable figure within the Jewish Chabad movement in the United Arab Emirates, possesses both Moldovan and Israeli citizenship. As reported by the Israeli daily newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, the 28-year-old Kogan has been officially living in the UAE, serving in the capacity of an assistant to the Chief Rabbi of Abu Dhabi.

The Chabad organization reportedly maintains a position opposing the recognition of Palestinians’ right to exist and advocates for their removal from territories referred to as occupied Palestine. Furthermore, the organization is said to be against any agreements that might allocate portions of the land to the Palestinians. This stance emerges amid ongoing debates concerning the Palestinians’ claim to all of Palestine.
