Lebanon’s Hezbollah Resistance Movement strongly condemned Tuesday’s terrorist attacks in the Belgian capital of Brussels that led to the deaths of dozens, and stressed that the tragic attacks were rooted in certain countries’ supports for Takfiri terrorists in Syria.

In a statement on Tuesday, Hezbollah decried the suicide blasts in Brussels that killed at least 35 people and expressed condolences to the Belgian nation and government and the bereaved families of the victims.

The Lebanese group further emphasized that supporters of Takfiri terrorist groups, including some Middle Eastern states, are to blame for such crimes across the world.

“The blasts once again highlighted the danger of these terrorist groups and revealed the fact that the fire that has swept Europe, in particular, and the world, in general, is the same fire that certain regimes have ignited in Syria and some other regional countries,” the statement read, according to the Arabic-language Al-Ahed news website.

On Tuesday morning, two explosions at the Brussels airport and another at a busy metro station in the Belgian capital killed at least 35 people and wounded 230 others.

Daesh (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the coordinated attacks, but authorities said it is too soon to say for sure whether the terror group was behind the blasts.

For the first time in the country’s history, Belgium raised the terror threat to the highest “fourth” level, the country’s prime minister said.

Borders with France and the Netherlands were also closed.
