Riyadh Fueling Chaos in Kuwait over Bahrain Differences

Saudi Arabia is provoking unrests in Kuwait and is meddling in the Persian Gulf state’s affairs after Kuwait refused to heed Riyadh’s repeated demands for an increased deployment of foreign forces in Bahrain to suppress popular protests in the tiny Shiite-dominated island.

According to FNA, sources privy to the Kuwait’s royal family, who asked to remain anonymous, said after Kuwait rejected Saudi demands to dispatch forces to Bahrain within the framework of the Peninsula Shield Force, Riyadh was angered and stirred unrests in Kuwait to trouble the country’s Emir and government.
To that end, the Saudis embarked on mobilizing Salafist and tribal elements in Kuwait to stir confined chaos in the small neighboring Arab state and challenge the Kuwaiti government, a strategy that has already left profound impacts on Kuwait mainly due to the tribal and ethnic nature of the Kuwaiti government.
Speaking to FNA, Foad Mostafa Khalid, a London-based Kuwaiti analyst, confirmed the Saudi meddling in Kuwaiti affairs and said, “This time Saudi Arabia has gone beyond what it did the past and has grown its interference in Kuwait in a clear and direct manner.”
